October 2009
Participation art project Allerzielen Alom.

Following the master class by Ida van der Lee and Jaap Velserboer I was asked to contribute to the next edition of Allerzielen Alom.

Allerzielen Alom is a multidisciplinary art project that gives death a visible place in life. Allerzielen Alom revives an old tradition and creates an contemporary ritual for the mystery of death - not to conceal the dead, but to celebrate who they were and what they may still have to say.

During the evening celebrations, the locations are turned into hospitality venues with beauty, light and space by artists from different disciplines. People can create an atmosphere around the grave where the deceased can be remembered and where family and friends are welcome. Not the mourning but celebrating the 'lived life' is the main issue. Artists design collective memorial places during these evenings so all visitors can celebrate their dead, regardless of where these are buried or cremated.

Allerzielen Alom took place this year:
- October 17th, in all cemeteries in Graft-De Rijp.
- October 25th cemetery Grote Kerk in Edam
- October 28th cemetery De Biezen in Velsen
- October 31th Landpark Assisiƫ in Biezenmortel
